The following courses are offered to Middle School students to help them improve their skills. These courses are designed primarily for students entering 9th grade with the idea of combining skill development with increased appreciation for learning.

Students will read fiction and nonfiction selections with an emphasis on picking out main ideas, themes, and supporting details. Students will sharpen their critical reading ability by making inferences and separating fact from opinion. They will write summaries, outlines, and reading webs. Students will do independent reading of books of their choice and present “book shares” to the class. The most important goal of this class is to find pleasure and success in reading and related activities. | |
